Want a reason to make a career with us? We can give you 10 billion

The rapid growth of urban populations has become one of the defining challenges of our time. About 8 billion people live on this planet today, and in just a few decades, we will be closer to 10 billion. To develop cities that can cope with this growing population in a sustainable way, we need to accelerate the transformation towards more innovative mining and construction industries with less environmental impact. Do you want to be a part of making it happen?

Two great challenges

  1. One of the primary challenges is the increasing demand for housing. As urban populations swell, the need for affordable and adequate housing becomes critical. Governments and city planners must prioritize the development of affordable housing initiatives and implement effective urban planning strategies to accommodate the growing population

  2. Transportation infrastructure is another major challenge. As cities expand, traffic congestion worsens, resulting in longer commuting times, increased pollution, and decreased productivity. Building efficient and reliable public transportation systems, promoting the use of alternative modes of transportation, and adopting smart city technologies are vital for alleviating congestion and improving the overall quality of life in urban areas.

We at Epiroc accelerate the transformation with advanced construction equipment,  tunneling expertise and automation technologies.

Circularity could reduce CO2 emissions from building materials by 38%

In growing cities, making space for new buildings sometimes requires demolishing old

ones. In Europe, about 850 million metric tons of construction and demolition waste (CDW) were created in 2020 alone. Buildings, roads, infrastructure and other human-made features of our surroundings – uses almost half the materials extracted globally every year and is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.

How we design, construct and eventually demolish our built environment will have a major impact on the green transition. A circular economy could reduce global CO2 emissions from building materials by 38% in 2050, by reducing demand for steel, aluminium, cement, and plastic. It could also make the sector more resilient to supply chain disruptions and price volatility of raw materials. Read more here.
