“Technology makes the job more fun and we have a good collaboration between colleagues. There is no prestige and even if you are new, your opinions are valued.”
"We are building a library for the different application teams, to be able to use the different cameras we have available on all machines. One can control and zoom where they look. Some cameras have something similar to windshield wipers, which also needs to be controlled," explains Erik.
He says that the team constantly reviews each other's source code, and comments on each other's work, so that the newer abilities can constantly learn and share knowledge from the more experienced developers. It created a huge sense of safety during the first time at work.
"It was easy to ask my colleagues about anything. No questions were too stupid. We do a lot of couple programming, where we sit two and two, and solves a task together. It was very educative in the beginning, when you are new and can sit and write the code together with a more senior colleague, who can guide and give suggestions on how it can be done", says Erik.

Erik started at Epiroc right after his studies. Two years go by fast and Erik has learned a lot during that time. In the future, he wants to be really good at what he does and hopes that he gets to take on more responsibility in his areas, but that his role does not change much. He thrives well both in the team and in the company as a whole.
“It's super fun to work at Epiroc! These are fun tasks and I think that, despite the fact that the mining industry is hundreds of years old, we work with new and advanced technology. Especially when it comes to the graphical interfaces, frameworks and stuff. Technology makes the job more fun and we have a good collaboration between colleagues. There is no prestige and even if you are new, your opinions are valued,” says Erik
